The healing chemicals in fresh organic fruits, vegetables and grains can prevent, slow down, or reverse the process of cancer cells. This is most effective when consumed.

A life style of poor diet that consists of too many unhealthy and destructive calories from processed and refined foods can promote cancer in the body. Other promoters of cancer are frequent dehydration, chronic stress, lack of exercise and fresh air, too much exposure to all kinds of chemicals and low body oxygen from smoking. It is very difficult for cancer cells to develop or survive in an oxygen rich body.

Ninety nine studies to see if there was an actual connection between cancer and diet was done by Dr. Gladys Block, Ph.D., nutrition researcher from University of California. Eighty nine of these studies disclosed that the best defense against many types of cancers is a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. The National Cancer Institute also recommends a diet that includes five servings of fruits and vegetables a day to help in cancer prevention.

How to Prevent and Turn off Cancer Genes

Since a certain unhealthy life style and poor diet can promote cancer, there are healthy diets and life styles that can prevent it. Some of the functions of vitamin A in the body are the support of the immune system. It is essential for the growth of new healthy cells and tissues, gene expression and fighting infections. This is an essential vitamin to fight cancer.

Vitamin B-complex is a family that works together effectively in the body. These are some of the functions that fight and prevent cancer. It is essential for the health of the nervous system and brain function. The B vitamins convert carbohydrates into energy, regenerate and develop healthy red blood cells.

When cancer genes are lurking around in a body, diet and life style can either turn them off or promote them. Folic acid is a member of the B complex family and it is a powerful nutrient in cancer fighting and prevention. It helps in the turning-off of cancer genes and lowers the risk of tumor development.
