With growing concern about the harmful effects of artificial ingredients on children, it is important for parents to find all natural treats made with no artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors, or preservatives. So when picking treats for Halloween, go for organic candy that uses unrefined sugar, natural fruit flavors and coloring to minimize the risk of dumping a bunch of toxins and chemicals into the body.

Cut Down on the Sugar and Junk in Candy

Foods that are “organic” should be free of artificial food additives and are often processed with fewer artificial methods and materials likes chemical ripening, food irradiation, and genetically modified ingredients.

Organic, unrefined sugar is less harmful than regular refined white sugar, which passes directly into the bloodstream. It contains vitamins that aren’t found in refined white sugar and organic ingredients contain much more nutrition. Sugar is responsible for a lot of disease, is an immune suppressant, and is rarely something anyone needs to add to their diet. Fruit sugar (fructose, glucose) is the healthiest choice.

Organic foods may also be required to be produced by using energy-saving technologies and packaged using recyclable or biodegradable materials when possible.
