Indigestion is one of the most common health complaints. Learn some simple, natural ways to relieve the uncomfortable symptoms.
Indigestion affects about 25% of the population. The condition is typically labeled heartburn, acid reflux, or GERD. The uncomfortable symptoms of indigestion lead many people to seek medication for relief. Over-the-counter antacids such as Rolaids, Tums and Pepto-Bismol are popular digestive aides. Unfortunately, for many people, these aren't strong enough so they are given prescriptions like Zantac. Most are H2 antagonists, which block the production of stomach acid. However, there are natural alternatives that can help relieve indigestion and there are many changes in diet and lifestyle that can prevent it from happening in the first place. Some of these are listed below:
- For immediate relief while experiencing indigestion, try a spoonful of baking soda and water. It tastes pretty bad but it does the trick.
- Lose a little weight! Drop a few of those unwanted pounds and be sure to avoid over consumption.
- Slow down and chew your foods well.
- Stress less! Most research indicates that digestive problems are directly related to mental and emotional stress. Try meditation and other stress reduction techniques like yoga or tai chi.
- Drink lots of water. Avoid sodas and other carbonated drinks which aggravate indigestion. Water has been found to both prevent and relieve indigestion.
- Avoid artificial sweeteners. Some research shows that aspartame and other fake sugars can upset the chemical balance in the stomach and trigger digestive discomfort.
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol - both have been known to make the symptoms of indigestion worse.
Chronic indigestion can be a sign of a bigger health problem. If the problem persists, seek the advice of a medical doctor.

Skin problems are a pretty complicated issue because
there could be a lot of things going on. Allergies are fairly common - a
lot of people notice their skin improves when they avoid allergens such as
wheat. It could also have to do with the quality or quantity of fats you
eat. Healthy, quality fats such as raw organic nuts, olive oil, fish,
avocado, etc should be focused on while low quality fats (such as fried
foods) should be avoided. See the info on <a

powders and consider adding some to your diet - it may help
balance out your system a little. Good luck!
