I have heard the question "Do I have to eat all organic to be healthy?" a lot. Truthfully, no you don't. I think that of course organic is better for you for many reasons. The plants have to be healthier to produce food so they have a natural resistance to disease. That can only be better for those that are eating it.
Herbicides and pesticides are toxic. They kill bugs and plants (weeds). These bugs and weeds are made up of the same life giving force we are so, yes they do build up in our systems too, just in lower levels.
All that being said, sometimes organic is not available all the time or it is very expensive. So, what do you do? Well, eat the healthiest food available to you. A diet high in fruits and vegetables is what is most important. It is important to take the necessary precautions when buying any produce. Wash your fruits and veggies. Buy organic when you can and you should wash them too. Feel healthy.
Dr. Weil (one of my favorite nutrition resources on the Internet) has a list of fruits and veggies that you do not necessarily need to buy organic because very little herbicides and pesticides are used in the production process. I find the list refreshing. Here is it is. It is nice to see that people who are promoting a truly healthy life style are being somewhat practical in the application of eating good wholesome food.
