I ran across this article on the Forbes web site.

Apparently, at the Salk Institute in San Diego, they have done a trial on a pill. The pill helps mice that are on a high fat, high calorie diet, stay thin. It is years away from being used on humans.
Here in lies the question. Why? Why have a pill like that? You know the side effects are going to be horrible things like anal leakage or diarrhea. All that bad for you food has to go some where, right? I sure wouldn't take that pill. What ever happened to personal responsibility? We all do struggle on some level with our bodies and our weight. That is the price we pay for abundance. In a society that worships rail thin people, and then are morbidly obese themselves, what does that say about how we feel about ourselves. We are ignoring reality.
The truth is, the key to a healthy body is not in a pill. It is not in a diet (or diet book). it is not even at the gym (lucky you, because you were afraid of that, weren't you). No, the key is personal responsibility. You are as fat as you want to be. Turn off the TV. It is not good for us. We are spoon feeding our brain rail thin faked pictures of people along with junk food commercials that tempt us. Talk about mixed messages!
