» Feature Writer Daniel Workman - Natural whole food diet

I remember watching a DVD titled "Supersize Me" which showed an experiment where McDonald's french fries simply did not deteriorate the way natural food does. Can you imagine what this "frankenfood" does to our bodies? I think processed food can wreak havoc on our digestive and elimination foods. Besides, whole foods taste too good to not be a part of our normal diet.

In response to Natural whole food diet posted by Daniel2006:

I saw the same DVD and was horrified!! It is impossible to truly imagine what we, as a nation, have done to our bodies and that of our children with these awful eating habits. I agree, whole foods taste much better than processed and I feel MUCH better when they are the major part of my diet.

» ERWS61 - Quinoa

Christine, You mentioned "Quinoa" in your article on "Whole Foods". What exactly is that and how is it prepared? Do you or anyone else have recipes for it?

In response to Quinoa posted by ERWS61:

Quinoa (pronounced "keenwa") is a gluten free grain that is a little like the texture of cous cous. It's about 16 to 20% protein which is pretty high (for a grain). You can purchase it at Whole Foods, Trader Joes or most other health stores. It cooks exactly like rice and I have many great recipes...I'll post a few in the future. For now, cook some up and toss in some sauted peppers and onions, a handful of pine nuts and a little feta cheese. YUM!
